Why Do You Only the Fruiting Body of the Mushroom and Not Mycellium?
Mycellium is the mushroom's root system, and is often grown on a grain substrate. During the extraction process, these grain substrates cannot be separated out, resulting in a final product that has very low levels of active compounds and high levels of starches and fillers. This describes the large majority of mushroom extract supplements on the market today.
